Ft Huachuca – Huachuca Canyon
Huachuca Canyon is located on the Fort Huachuca Army Base and is one of many beautiful canyons in the Huachuca Mountains. At the entrance to the canyon, birds of lower elevations meet their mountain counterparts: Summer and Hepatic tanagers, Lucy’s and Black-throated Gray warblers, Ladder-backed and Arizona woodpeckers. Gray Hawks nested in the sycamores over the lower picnic area, where the second Sinaloa Wren in the U.S. was resident for several years.
Established in 1877, the Fort was annexed in 1971 by the city of Sierra Vista and declared a national landmark in 1976.
