Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument offers visitors more than 500-square miles to explore, with sprawling deserts, rugged canyons, and a few small bodies of water. And of course, the monument’s namesake cactus towers over it all. Try out the monument’s two scenic drives, Ajo Mountain Drive or Puerto Blanco Drive. The monument also hosts two splendid campgrounds that are a perfect homebase for exploring the area. Some of the monument’s other highlights include Alamo Canyon and Quitibaquito Spring, a natural spring that creates an oasis in an arid region, drawing all kinds of wildlife to its life-giving waters. During springtime the monument can see spectacular desert wildlife flower blooms.
