7B Ranch

One of the largest and oldest Mesquite Bosque’s on the Lower San Pedro River. 1.5 Mile winding loop trail. An International Bird Area (IBA), the dirt trail winds under the canopy. Be alert for openings in the canopy and significant “sap” trees for a variety of bird species.

Site is owned by Resolution Copper but managed by Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Reliable site for Lucy’s warbler, Bell’s Vireo, Vermilion, Ash-throated and Gray Flycatchers. Also Abert’s Towhee, Gray and Zone-tailed Hawks. Rare Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

Directions: Site is about .5 mile east of Mammoth. From Hwy 77 in central Mammoth, head east on Copper Creek Rd to "Yield" sign. Stay left and proceed onto Bluebird Street beyond two "Stop" signs which turns into Bluebird Street. Cross the usually dry San Pedro River. The graveled parking area is on the right after the crossing. Caution: The River can be impassable during/after heavy rains. Also, the trail has several low spots for standing water and can be muddy and slippery. Alternate route: from Copper Creek Rd proceed north on Hwy77 2.2 miles and turn right onto River Rd. Proceed 2.3 miles on River Rd to Copper Creek Rd and turn right. Site is .4 miles on the left.
