Hassayampa Rest Area
The mesquites around this rest area 2 miles south of the Hassayampa River Preserve are excellent for viewing Vermilion Flycatcher. Many riparian species can be seen in the cottonwoods and willows that line the creek here, including Gray Hawk and Tropical Kingbird.

Directions: The rest area is on the west side of US 60 (Grand Avenue), 47 miles northwest of Phoenix, between mile markers 117 and 116. There is a left-hand turn lane if coming from Phoenix, but no right-hand turn lane if coming from Wickenburg (use shoulder when turning). Be careful of fast traffic when entering and exiting the rest area.

Best time to visit: Peak migration from March-May and from August-October. May-August best for rare summer breeders.

Know Before You Go
You may bird from the parking lot at the rest area. The area behind the fence is part of the Hassayampa River Preserve and is restricted access. Traffic noise may be less on weekdays and during summer.
