Huachuca Mountains – Ramsey Canyon Preserve
The 300-acre Ramsey Canyon Preserve is operated by The Nature Conservancy. Nestled in the middle elevations of the Huachuca Mountains just west of town of Sierra Vista, Ramsey Canyon offers remarkable birding in Arizona’s famed “Sky Islands” region. Well-maintained trails meander deep into the canyon where wildlife abounds. Some highlights include elegant trogon, painted redstart, red-faced warbler, and several species of hummingbirds, including violet-crowned, Berylline, white-eared, magnificent, and others. Black bear, bobcat, wild turkey, and coatimundi are also regular visitors to the canyon.

Directions: From Tucson, take I-10 east to Highway 90 exit and go south to Sierra Vista. Take Highway 92 south from Sierra Vista for six miles and turn right onto Ramsey Canyon Road. The preserve is at the end of Ramsey Canyon Road, four miles west of the highway.
