Rock Corral Canyon

Located in the Tumacacori Mountains, this is a very pretty canyon that is better known as Arizona’s Wild Chile Botanical Area.  There are no facilities but there are hiking trails.  Known for its luxuriant vegetation due to its protection from grazing. Great solitude and striking scenery.

Birds that have been seen here are Elegant Trogon, Western Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet, and Hepatic Tanager.

Directions: The wilderness area can be reached via a short, but rough 2.5 mile dirt road that leads west from the Tumacaori/Carmen Exit #29 on I-19 between Tucson and Nogales. High clearance vehicle is required.
