Lockett Meadow Campground
This campground is in an open area at the base of the San Francisco Peaks in the beautiful Inner Basin. There is water at the site in tanks which attracts the occasional water bird.
Logan’s Crossing
A good spot for birding with some riparian vegetation and part-year water flow.
Schultz Pass
This is an easily accessible spot from town to see higher-elevation species, and is a hub for many miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails.
Sunset Crater National Monument
This National Monument protects evidence of recent volcanic eruptions, including a large cinder cone and black lava flows. Habitat is primarily ponderosa pine, with some meadows.
Wupatki National Monument
This National Monument contains incredible ancient ruins. Habitat is open grasslands and pinyon-juniper. It is a sister park to Sunset Crater National Monument.
